After spending my whole life in the Dominican Republic, I recently made the life-changing decision to relocate to New York. My family is already settled here, which makes things easier, and I believe it’s the wisest decision for me and my kids. However, the challenge for me is real, and even when I try to be prepared for what is coming, that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
One strategy I’ve been implementing for a long, and works well for me, is setting three main priorities to focus my efforts. I’m doing the same now: finding a job, continue with running exercises for health, and spending time with my kids. My previous logotherapy coaching, which helped me find clarity and purpose, played a big role in taking this decision.
With clear priorities it’s easy to take action. Despite the hustle, I’m determined to carve out the path for the things that I have ahead. In my professional career, I’m going back to the basics. It’s a new opportunity to refine my skills and polish my knowledge. The good thing is that I love programming, especially integrations with Python, the challenge is finding where my skills are needed and valued. In the running area, it’s clear what is next. The Brooklyn Half is on the way, and for sure the Chicago Marathon. My dream of having my little girl waiting for me at the finish line it’s closer than ever.
While time passes, let’s make things happen. I already embraced this new chapter of life with all I’ve got.
